Beginner 1 (B1 ages 5+)
A Beginner 1 swimmer will learn comfort and balance in the water. They will practice front and back floats and safety skills. They will be able to fall into the water, turn around, get the wall and climb out.
Beginner 2 (B2 ages 5+)
Beginner 2 swimmers will continue to work on comfort, independence and movement through the water. They will practice floating, kicking, diving and treading water. They will be able to dive in, look for the closest wall, swim to it and climb out.
Beginner 3 (B3 ages 5+)
The Beginner 3 swimmer will learn armstrokes, increase the duration of treading water and dive in and swim armstrokes across the width of the pool. We teach a simplified, basic armstroke for student understanding and success at this level. The “catch-up” armstroke emphasizes the full pull of the crawl armstroke, beginning and ending in front of the student’s head. In this way, the student maintains pressure at the front of the stroke for proper balance. The “catch-up” armstroke ensures that the maximum amount of water is pulled from the front of the swimmer to the back of the swimmer for maximum distance per stroke.
Breather (BR ages 5+)
At this level, side breathing is added to the crawl stroke. The swimmers practice breathing drills on the steps and with the instructor. The ultimate goal is independent four count breathing the length of the pool.
